The Wine Selections
Cristie Kerr is the founder and fearless leader of Kerr Cellars. When Cristie isn’t on the golf course she’s running Kerr Cellars, spending time with her family, or cooking a Michelin star worthy dinner. For Cristie, food pairing is key. Her Italian roots are intent on a wine that compliments the dish in front of her and her guests. Two of Cristie's favorite wines for entertaining are the 2019 Rued Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2018 Beckstoffer Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. These two single-vineyard wines have beautiful food-friendly tension with bold tannins on the Cabernet and delightful minerality on the Chardonnay.
2019 Rued Vineyard Chardonnay
Opens with an intense nose of lemon bar, guava, flint, honeysuckle, and corn tortilla which evolves into hazelnut, lemon and orange zest, and Crème brûlée. The gorgeous, vibrant palate begins and ends with minerality, bookending bartlett pear, green olive, and dried sage. This wine has terrific tension and drive, with freshness and flavors carrying beyond the long finish.
Cristie's pairing suggestion: Sole En Papillote with Beurre Blanc
2018 Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon - 96 points, James Suckling
Gorgeous aromatics of candied ginger, cassis, red and black fruit, rose petals, and anise. The nose lingers further with boysenberry, red earth, aromatic black tea, hints of cedar, and balsamic. The palate has an incredibly silky entry with flavors of dark fruit, flowers, red earth, exotic spices, and crushed stones. This wine has terrific weight and gorgeous texture followed by a flavorful and very lengthy finish.
Cristie's pairing suggestion: Erik's Beef Tenderloin
