2022 Rued Vineyard Chardonnay
Available
95 Points- James Suckling
The 2022 Rued Vineyard Chardonnay has an appealing nose of lemon curd, pastry crust, yellow peach, Jordan almond, straw, and honeysuckle. The palate has fresh acidity and medium weight while displaying flavors of pear, lemon curd, toasted almond, honeysuckle, and crushed stones. This vineyard site is 100% dry-farmed and has earned the nickname “Chardonnay Musqué” for its elevated aromatic qualities and rich mouthfeel. Drink now or in the near-to-mid term.

The Rued Vineyard is filled with gorgeous, old, gnarled, mossy vines on a gentle slope in a cool spot in between Graton and Occidental. These vines are lovingly farmed by Ulises Valdez, with plenty of attention to detail. The slow ripening at this site seems to lead to ever-evolving wines with incredible concentration and depth.
