"This wine is a riveting interpretation of Napa Valley terroir. Perfectly balanced in depth, complexity, and elegance. Each of these Cabernet Vineyards stands on their own as single-vineyard expressions in our portfolio - Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III and Red Hen Vineyard. Yet, they are even more magnificent together in one bottle with a kiss of Petit Verdot." Cristie Kerr

Tasting Notes
Red and black currants, black plum, rooibos, tobacco, licorice, and bittersweet chocolate make up the intense and dark aromatics of this wine. A silky entry with notes of boysenberry, cassis, and cigar box lead to a coating mid-palate with refreshing acidity and fine tannin, ending with a broad, plush, and lengthy finish.

The 2019 vintage was one of the cooler vintages of the last decade. Ample spring rains fueled healthy canopy growth and a crop that was nearly as generous as 2018. The first half of the growing season was moderate, and therefore somewhat extended. This allowed the vines time to slow their growth heading into veraison and maximize their nutrient uptake and pre-ripening photosynthesis. The second half of the season, in which the grapes ripen and are harvested, was warm, with some heat during the harvest period, leading to wines of incredible silkiness, fresh and pure fruit, elegant texture, and impressive length.
Our Reserve Red is the pinnacle of vinification and vineyard sourcing in the Napa Valley. Helen Keplinger goes to extreme lengths to source fruit for this Reserve Red. If the supreme fruit resource is not there, the wine is not made. They say, that great wine is made in the vineyard. That is not true. Great fruit is made in the vineyard. And great fruit is what makes our Reserve Proprietary Red!
