Tasting Notes
Straw-gold in color, with peach, grapefruit, and orange blossom aromas over deeper pineapple notes and a hint of rain-wet pebbles. In the mouth this blend is vibrant and dynamic with lemon curd, guava and stone fruit flavors buoyed on a zesty, textured core. The finely balanced palate reveals a touch of barrel-tannins and a prickle of minerality, giving extra complexity to the finish. Will age until around 2022 in your cellar. Ideal serving temperature: 53-55°F.

Latin Translation: From Soil to Bottle
We sourced the grapes from vineyards in the southern half of Napa Valley. The selection was rigorous, and we were very happy to discover a small plot of Sauvignon Blanc Musqé – a clone variety that gives unique aromatics. The Musqué actually acts as a bridge between the crisp Sauvignon and the more luscious Sémillon.

Helen made the wine completely in barrel, using well seasoned French barriques (just 10% new oak) to let the malolactic fermentation naturally occur and slowly transform the must. The result is a beautifully seductive white with a wonderful textural richness, which offers a full spectrum of flavors and balance. Due to the meticulous grape selection, our 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is limited to just 386 cases.
Philosophy
Our 2017 Kerr Cellars Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of 41.4% Sauvignon Blanc, 40.3% Sauvignon Blanc Musqué and 18.4% Sémillon. Pairing Sauvignon with Sémillon is the classic white blend of Bordeaux appellations like Pessac-Leognan and Entre-deux-Mers. These characterful, age-worthy wines are very distinct from the intensely tropical and grassy modern Sauvignons.

We ferment our Sauvignon blend in French oak barrels for eight months, which harmonizes the grapes' characters and gives a rounded, supple weight to the wine. Seamlessly integrating freshness, body, a hint of tannins, and a tantalizing mineral finish, this wine is all about balance. Pair it with veal or pork in creamy mustard sauces, garlic, and herb-roast chicken, or a Lebanese falafel tabbouleh to really reveal the wine's layered complexity.
